Chest Launches Community Impact Fund
March 3, 2009

The Community Chest has created a third Field of Interest Fund (FOIF) to support organizations making a positive impact on residents in Concord and Carlisle. The Community Impact FOIF is designed to grant funds to human service agencies focused on meeting critical needs such as fuel assistance, bill assistance, household management and disaster relief.

Established in 2006, Field of Interest Funds target the immediate needs of local agencies outside of the Chest's Annual Campaign allocations process. The Community Impact Fund grew out of recognition of the increased financial instability in our state, as a result of the current economic situation and increased costs of living. Through this new FOIF, the Chest will collaborate with other local organizations to provide assistance for basic needs, helping individuals and families cope with the rising cost of living.

Field of Interest Funds are a new and separate funding agent for the Community Chest, supporting donor designated interests with a minimum investment of $10,000. Applications are reviewed by an advisory committee comprised of board members, overseers and community volunteers and then funds are distributed over a three-year cycle. The categories are determined mainly by donor interest within the human service area. Previously established funds focus on Scholarships and Environmental Issues.

To apply for monies from all three Field of Interest Funds, please contact the Community Chest for an application at 978-369-5250.
