Chest Increases Campaign Goal to $650,000
October 2, 2009
October is Community Chest month in Concord and Carlisle when the annual campaign is launched on behalf of more than 35 human service agencies and programs. With a single donation to the Chest, your contribution is distributed among many deserving local organizations. Programs target populations in need to provide them with food, transportation, elder support, educational scholarships, domestic abuse prevention, legal services, and many other critical services.
“This year, we are increasing our goal to $650,000 and need everyone’s help to reach it,” said Nicole Kelly, campaign manager. “Our agencies are undergoing tremendous financial strain and we anticipate requests will reach an all-time high in January during our allocations process. We want to do as much as we can to support the great work being done to help residents who most need services.”
In addition to launching the annual campaign, the Community Chest recently welcomed five new board members, creating a 20-member council. The board of directors is instrumental in raising and distributing funds from the annual campaign and overseeing the budget. New board members include Concord residents Wendy McNally, Maura Perkins and Mark Russell Prior; and from Carlisle Amanda Hickman and Bridget Saltonstall. Each member serves a three-year term and may be re-elected for one additional term.
The 2009/2010 annual campaign will be led by experienced board members Nicole Kelly, Adam Winstanley and John Hickling. Contributions and sponsorships of any amount are gratefully accepted by the Community Chest at 111 ORNAC, Concord, MA 01742. Donations can also be made online at www.cccommunitychest.org
