This should be a time of celebration for the Community Chest to recognize the many organizations that do such great work in our community. Sadly, with the most recent acts of police brutality and racist violence throughout the country we recognize how we still have much more work to do. We condemn the anti-Black violence that has shaken so many communities in our country.
The Community Chest’s mission is to engage our community to help neighbors in need. We are at our best when we work together to strengthen our entire community – inclusive of race, age, gender, socioeconomic status, sexual orientation, disability, and religion. We are all stronger together. To this end, the Community Chest is having conversations with organizations and leaders in our community about how we can best support one another. There is action in discussion and we need to listen and hear what others have to say. We are committed to this effort to create opportunities for ongoing dialogue for all in our community.
We are excited about the work that our grantees are already doing around racial justice and are in the process of identifying more learning opportunities and resources that our partners are currently leading. We want to elevate this important work for all to partake in our community. As these unfold we will share with you ongoing engagement opportunities.
We are, and have always been, neighbors helping neighbors and we envision a community committed to meeting all human service needs.
