Ways to Volunteer

Since its founding in 1947, the Community Chest has been a volunteer-driven organization. Without our volunteers, our fundraising, special events, and community work simply would not be possible. Each year, hundreds of individuals give of their time and talents to help make a difference in our towns!

Volunteering with the Community Chest or one of the organizations we support is a wonderful way to enrich the community we love. Here are some ways to help:

  • Special event planning
  • Committee work
  • Marketing/communications/social media/outreach
  • Office help
  • Community Closet

We welcome help from students as well! High school or college students may receive community service credit by volunteering at the Community Chest.

Contact the Community Chest office at volunteer@cccommunitychest.org or (978)369-5250 for more information.

Intern Project Opportunity

Do you know of a local college student who would like to help out the community? The Community Chest has one-time and ongoing projects where we could use their assistance!

  • Flexible hours: 4-5 hours/week
  • Work virtually: unpaid/volunteer credit hours
  • Proficient with Excel, Word, research skills

Projects may include:

  • Local business research and outreach
  • Creation of social media content
  • Develop and research community building projects

With our Grantees

“Volunteering for the Community Chest has helped to shape my opinions about community service, philanthropic priorities and so much more. With a single gift, our donors are able to reach hundreds of individuals right here in Concord and Carlisle who struggle on a daily basis with a broad spectrum of issues. The Chest carefully stewards its resources and subjects every request for funds to a stringent review process. This thoughtful approach provides our donors with the assurance that their gifts are as impactful as possible on a local level. As a past President of the Board, I am thrilled to continue to support the Chest as a donor, an overseer and as a member of two committees. I can’t think of a better way to be supportive of my community and my neighbors in need.”

– Valerie Kolligian Thayer, Community Chest Overseer & Committee Member

Collectively, the Community Chest distributed $593,451 back into our towns in 2022-2023!
